Paris Fire Chief resigns after only six months on the job

Paris Fire Chief Mike Vogel has turned in his resignation after only six months on the job.

“I had an obligation to former City Manager John Godwin to stay here for five years,” Vogel said. “Now that he’s gone, things have changed and I no longer feel obligated to stay.”

Vogel said he turned in his resignation Friday and doesn’t have an exact end-date for the job, but it will be some time in October.

“I’ve got to talk with Gene Anderson soon about my final day,” he said.

Vogel said he plans to move to Florida to be closer to family. An interim fire chief will be named soon, he said.
