The L&H Memorial Golf Tournament is set for Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019, at Pine Ridge Golf Course.
Benefitting the Texas Oncology Foundation, organizers are asking the community to come together to help raise money for those in need.
“Whether that be through donating an item for our raffle, for the silent auction, or by playing in the tournament,” said organizer Connie Harbin. “All of the money raised during this tournament will stay here in Paris, Texas, and will be used to assist cancer patients in a variety of ways – such as taking them to and from their doctor’s appointments and helping with their electric bills.”
Another opportunity to help, Harbin said, is by purchasing one of the signs the golf course has to offer. Those include “In Honor of Our Winning Warrior” and “In Memory of Our Beloved.”
Those signs, she said, are $150 apiece and will be placed along the driving range and out on the golf course.
Paris Chevrolet is this year’s title sponsor and they will be providing the following prizes for a Closest to the Pin Contest: 1st Place $100 + free oil change, cutting board, hat and koozie. 2nd Place $75 + free oil change, cutting board, hat and koozie. 3rd Place $50 + free oil change, cutting board, hat and koozie. Ed “Too Tall” Jones, Billy Joe Dupree and Kathy Whitworth are all expected to attend.
“No one expects to hear the word cancer about themselves or a loved one, and, unfortunately, many of us are all too familiar with that word and how devastating it can be emotionally and financially to the patient and their family,” Harbin said.
Registration starts at 8 a.m., the silent auction is open for bidding at 8 a.m., closest to the pin starts at 9 a.m., shotgun starts at 10 a.m., live auction and awards are at 2 p.m. and the silent auction closes at 2:30 p.m.
